Women living with HIV are able to conceive, carry and birth a healthy child free of HIV. Serodiscordant couples, where one partner is living with HIV and the other is HIV-free also have many options to prevent onward HIV transmission, including pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and Treatment as Prevention (TasP). The science is clear: having an undetectable viral load means that there is zero risk of sexual transmission of HIV.

Our factsheet on HIV, pregnancy and childbirth shares important information and strategies for couples living with HIV who wish to have children.
