Peer education and support has been a key component of Australia’s community response to HIV since the early 80s. A vital component of this has been the peer support programs initiated by and for people living with HIV (PLHIV). These programs have developed and evolved over many years, adapting and changing as needs changed.

  • [+Connect] - an inclusive social event for all people living with HIV, our partners, families and friends to get together. This is a Positive Life function usually held in the evening on every second month.
  • [+Connect] OUTWEST - an inclusive social event for all people living with HIV, our partners, families and friends to get together. This is a Positive Life function usually held at lunch out at Liverpool in partnership with South Western Sydney LHD.
  • Peer2Peer - a support and discussion group for all gay and bisexual men living with HIV. This is a Positive Life function held in the evening over a meal and usually every second month.
  • The Social Club - Positive Life offers regular functions for heterosexual people living with HIV usually monthly over a meal at an undisclosed venue.
  • Combined Events - At least twice a year Peer2Peer and the Social Club will offer a combined event over a meal or a Treatments update. This is a Positive Life function held in the evening.
  • GENESIS - a weekend workshop for gay men living with HIV. This program is a partnership between Positive Life and ACON.
