Peer education and support has been a key component of Australia’s community response to HIV since the early 80s. A vital component of this has been the peer support programs initiated by and for people living with HIV (PLHIV). These programs have developed and evolved over many years, adapting and changing as needs changed.
- [+Connect] - an inclusive social event for all PLHIV, our partners, families and significant others to get together. This is a Positive Life function held in the evening and usually on every second month.
- Peer 2 Peer - a support and discussion group for all gay men living with HIV. This is a Positive Life function held in the evening over a meal and usually every second month.
- The Social Club - Positive Life offers two regular functions for heterosexual people living with HIV. The first is The Social Club and held in Sydney once a month over a meal at an undisclosed venue. The second is a similar group for heterosexual people under 35 years of age.
- GENESIS - a weekend workshop for gay men living with HIV. This program is a partnership between Positive Life and ACON.
