As a heterosexual woman living with HIV for the past 21 years, I am acutely aware that the lived experience of women with HIV today is still mired in ignorance and invisibility.
I know of more than one young heterosexual woman who on asking their GP for an HIV test was told “oh you don’t need that” or “why?”
HIV is manageable and it must be acknowledged that living with HIV in 2014 is very different to what it was like in the 1980s.
