Stephen Watkins

Stephen has worked in the HIV sector both here and abroad for the last 10 years. He is a graduate of the Positive Leadership Development Institute (PLDI) and a long term advocate for improved health outcomes of marginalised communities and people living with HIV (PLHIV). As one of the Treatment Officers at Positive Life, he is focused on the peer involvement and support of PLHIV in NSW.

Originally from Wales in the UK, Stephen has been the Digital Engagement Coordinator for a Commonwealth funded National project at ACON, and prior to this he sat in the HIV Support team facilitating the Genesis workshop amongst others, managing client care and producing online resources for men at high risk of contracting HIV with the HowHard project.

Passionate about progressive issues pertaining to community health and wellbeing, Stephen has a wealth of experience working with large NGOs providing support to developing countries in the HIV response. Diagnosed with HIV since 2009, he brings a strong experience in community health, along with his tertiary degree qualifications in Marketing and Journalism, to advocate for the improvement of the lived experience of PLHIV at Positive Life NSW.
