Paul has lived with HIV since 1988 at the age of 29 years. He has spent time living in the Hawkesbury Valley on the north-western edge of Sydney as well as the far north coast of NSW, and has a strong interest in outreach and the interests of rural and regional people living with HIV. A valued member of the Positive Life NSW Positive Speakers Bureau (PSB) team and a former Positive Life Board Director, Paul is passionate about the environment and heritage, as well as HIV advocacy and person-centred health reforms.
Living with HIV since 2006, Freddy has a strong belief that living with HIV teaches lessons that can inform well beyond that experience. His rollercoaster like life has presented highs and lows with more than his fair share of absurdity along the way. A valued member of the Positive Life NSW Positive Speakers Bureau (PSB) team, Freddy divides his time between Bowral and Sydney’s Northern Beaches. He is passionate about architecture, design and the written word.
Natasha is a transgender woman who has lived with HIV since 2008. Her career includes 14 years as a High School Teacher and an extended period of time working in Europe and Asia. Confident and articulate, Natasha writes on HIV and transgender issues and is visibly active in the community. She is a valued Positive Speakers Bureau (PSB) speaker and Positive Life Board Director.
With a lived experience of HIV since the early 1980s, John brings over thirty years of history with Positive Life NSW and the NSW HIV sector. He has been a member of the organisation since 1991, as well as a Board Director, Secretary 1991-92, Vice President 2000-01, and President of People Living With HIV/AIDS (NSW) 2001-3. He was appointed to the Ministerial Advisory Committee on AIDS Strategy 2001-2004, was Secretary /Treasurer 2001- 02 of the National Association of People Living with HIV/AIDS and the NSW Representative 2000-03. John was instrumental in forming and revitalising the agency though a range of strategic plans and visions, governance changes and sector relationships in the early noughties, and a regular contributor to Talkabout from 1992 through to 2013.
Steve is a bisexual man who has lived with HIV since late 2018. He seeks to use his experiences as a PrEP advocate now living with HIV, to promote the dignity and rights of people living with HIV in what is a period of significant change in the Australian HIV epidemic. Steve regularly writes for a number of publications and he works as an active community advocate on issues around HIV prevention, PrEP access, HIV stigma, and bi-visbility across the intersections of gender, race, ethnicity, and sexuality.
