Treating your HIV by taking HIV medication (HIV antiretroviral treatment) as soon as possible is best for your long-term health. There are a number of benefits for your long-term health when you start HIV treatment immediately or as soon as possible after your HIV diagnosis.

It will prevent HIV from reproducing in your body and keep your immune system healthy. The earlier you start treating your HIV with HIV medication after your HIV diagnosis, the more protection you are giving your immune system. Starting HIV medication is completely your choice. It’s your decision if and when you start HIV medication.
