Housing Support Officer

Melanie has over seventeen years’ experience in the NSW community sector, managing accommodation services and delivering front-line support to people experiencing homelessness or  at risk of homelessness. Initially in the alcohol and other drug services sector, she has worked for six years at Lou’s Place supporting women who are in crisis, homeless, feeling isolated and rough sleeping, to improve the health needs and food insecurities of vulnerable groups.  Operating from a harm minimisation model, Melanie was the Consumer Engagement Coordinator at NSW Users and AIDS Association (NUAA) for five years where she was responsible for raising the capacity of peers, planning and delivering events and training workshops for health professionals, peers and community.

As the Housing Support Officer for Positive Life, Melanie is responsible for support and advocacy to all people living with HIV in metropolitan and regional NSW to access, achieve and maintain stable accommodation, including those at risk of homelessness.
