Chief Executive Officer

Jane Costello has twenty years’ experience in a broad range of executive corporate roles, management consulting and university medical research environments. She has ten year’s voluntary experience in the NGO HIV community sector in Australia. As the Positive Life CEO since November 2019, Jane brings a strong interest in effecting change in public health and social policy to deliver services to better meet the emerging needs of all people living with and affected by HIV in NSW.

Jane’s leadership and activism in the HIV sector jurisdictionally and nationally has taken place via the following roles: Australian country representative to the Asia Pacific Network of Positive People (APN+); National Association of People with HIV Australia (NAPWHA) Board Director; Positive Life NSW Board Director for eight years and six of those as President; Member of the NSW Positive Speakers Bureau (PSB); and Representative on the NSW Heterosexual HIV/AIDS Service (HHAS) Reference and Peer Connectivity Working Groups. Jane is a member of PozAction, the operational leadership group for the body positive throughout Australia.

Jane is a sitting member on the Australasian Society for HIV, Viral Hepatitis and Sexual Health Medicine (ASHM) ARV Guidelines Review Sub-Committee: HIV Positive Women and Breastfeeding as well as a representative on the National Association of People with HIV Australia (NAPWHA) Women’s Network (Femfatales).

Jane holds an undergraduate qualification in Commerce from AUT and a Masters in International Studies from the University of Sydney, and is studying for her PhD. Jane has been living with HIV since 1994, and successfully commenced treatment in 2001.
