Once you have made a booking request, the project officer will contact you to confirm the details of the talk and any speaker preferences to ensure the presentation is well suited for your needs. The presentation is usually left up to the individual speaker representing the Positive Speakers' Bureau. 

The speaker will contact you before the presentation to introduce themselves and let you know of any special requirements or take any special instructions you may have for them.

Depending on the number in your group, you may need to split the audience into smaller groups and engage more than one speaker. One talk equals one hour with no more than 45 participants. For larger groups, this is beneficial for the audience and the speaker as it means the presentation will be more intimate and participants may be more comfortable asking questions.

Speakers are generally allowed an hour for their talk, but this can be negotiated with the PSB project officer in advance of the presentation. Depending on their own particular story, most speakers allow enough time for questions at the end of their talk.

Fees and invoicing

We charge a booking fee on a cost recovery basis as a non-profit organisation. Positive Life NSW pays the speaker the speaking fee and travel and other expenses (fees are reviewed annually). We are dedicated to ensuring that as many people can benefit from our speakers as possible. If financial constraints would limit your access to the service, please contact the project officer to discuss your circumstances.

• Booking fee*: $40 per engagement
• Speaking fee: $80 per one-hour talk
• Travel**: $20 Sydney metro area, $30 outer Sydney metro area, $0.58 per/km rural areas or airfare when applicable 

Positive Life NSW will issue an invoice after the talk and payment should be made to us, please do not make a direct payment to the speaker.

*One week's notice is required for cancellations, otherwise the booking fee will be retained.

**Where applicable, airfare, accommodation, food and miscellaneous expenses (such as child care) are the client's responsibility and subject to negotiation.
